Goal-based investing means attaching a specific rupee amount and a target date to each thing you're saving for - a car, a trip, a down payment - rather than investing generically and hoping it adds up to enough eventually. This calculator turns a single goal into a concrete monthly investment number.

Enter the goal's cost in today's terms, the number of years until you need the money, and assumptions for inflation and expected investment return, and it calculates both the goal's future (inflated) cost and the SIP required to reach it on time.

Because different goals have different time horizons, it's worth running this separately for each one rather than lumping them together - a goal three years away generally calls for a more conservative instrument than one fifteen years away, since a short-horizon goal has less time to recover from a market dip right before you need the money.
